Reynoldsburg Historical Society Heritage House - Reynoldsburg, Ohio

The Reynoldsburg-Truro Historical Society was moved to its current location at Jackson and Broadwyn in Olde Reynoldsburg in the fall of 1993. A mid-nineteenth century farm house that once faced State Road 256 at Livingston Avenue, this is half of the original house believed to have been built between 1848 and 1850. The other half was moved early in the century and located a block away. The house is used as a museum, learning center and meeting place and is furnished with items donated to the Historical Society.

The Reynoldsburg-Truro Historical Society Museum is located above Connell Hardware, 1399 Lancaster Ave in the Heart of Old Reynoldsburg, Ohio. Here you will find an increasing collection of tools, costumes, photos, household furniture, farm items and published materials relating to historic Reynoldsburg and Truro Township.

The Museum is open the 4th Saturday of each month from 1 to 4 P.M. or by appointment.
For tour information contact Marilyn Griffin at 864-9124.

Twenty-two interested people met at Graham Road School on April 30, 1975, to discuss the idea of forming a Reynoldsburg area historical society.

Temporary officers and committee members served until the first Annual Meeting in September 1975. Following the Ohio State society guidelines, the committee drew up a constitution.

Stated aims of the Reynoldsburg-Truro Historical society are to discover, preserve and disseminate knowledge of the history of Reynoldsburg and surrounding areas; and to illuminate past lives, events and activities.

In our many years of growth, we have had interested, competent leadership and members who care and give their time to help keep the society developing and reaching out.

The Historical Society has achieved several of its stated goals. Our museum is located above Connell Hardware at 7345 East Main Street in downtown Reynoldsburg. There you will find an increasing collection of tools, costumes, photos, household furniture, farm items and published materials relating to historic Reynoldsburg and Truro Township.

Our monthly programs and newsletter provide a continuity essential to maintain an interest in things historical. Our internet site provides a method of telling our story world wide. There are society members in many states, who have relocated from Reynoldsburg, but still keep an interest in our activities.

The Heritage House, that serves as our main headquarters, is located at 1485 Jackson Street in the heart of Old Reynoldsburg. This location is in a part of John D. French's original 1831 town plat. Our meetings are held there February through November on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:30 P.M.

Anyone with an interest in the history of our area is welcome to attend our meetings, join our organization and visit our website at www.rths.info.
